Does it work in harsh factory environments?+
Yes. The DeteX Smart Camera is rated IP54 for dust and splash protection, with integrated white LED lighting that provides brightness of over 384 lux at a 1,000 mm working distance when fully activated. The DeteX Smart Camera holds up in real production conditions, not just lab settings.

Can the camera inspect multiple part variants or switch projects quickly?+
A direct project switch takes 10 seconds. However, we recommend grouping multiple part types into a single project to avoid this switch time. With this method, the AI first detects the specific part area, then automatically loads the correct associated tools to perform the inspection.
Are there software license costs or update procedures?+
There are currently no software license costs. Software updates are free and can be easily downloaded to upgrade the camera, ensuring forward project compatibility. However, deep downgrades may lack guaranteed backward compatibility. The software cannot be purchased separately from the hardware.
How much data can the camera store?+
The smart camera features a 256 GB storage capacity, which also dictates the limit for saved recipes. This capacity holds roughly 3 weeks, or 20 days, of all production data. This estimate assumes 5 tools capturing 100 images each, generating 57,600 images per 16-hour daily run. Users can manually clear data or set the system to automatic FIFO deletion, with a future export function currently planned. Storage lasts much longer if restricted to saving only failure images.
Can the camera be scaled across multiple lines and networks?+
Yes. Users can export entire projects to multiple cameras, assuming the lighting is not too different across the lines. Because cameras are treated as edge devices, there is no hard limit to how many can be strung together on the same network, though 10 is a feasible starting estimate.
How much effort is required for deployment and maintenance?+
A simple out-of-the-box application takes about 10 minutes to deploy. Ongoing engineering effort to maintain the system over time is close to zero. The unit does not need regular calibration unless it is physically bumped completely off its original FOV.
